About

About The Wine

This is a new release from the Lloyd family in McLaren Vale.

The Lloyds have always been huge ambassadors for the potential of Italian varieties in the Vale. Here's their newest addition to their range.

Negroamaro is a spicy, medium bodied red variety that pairs perfectly with rich pastas or cured meats. This variety is famous for having a super explosive nose and vibrant, spicy palate - the Lloyds have brought a lovely version to the table.

Enjoy now or over the medium term.

About Coriole

Coriole is a McLaren Vale institution.

It's a winery with two sides. On one hand, they craft classic regional versions of Shiraz and Cabernet which are exemplary. On the other, they have been a trailblazer for emerging varieties (Italian varieties, in particular) in Australia.

Owner and winemaker, Mark Lloyd was one of the first in the country to experiment with Sangiovese and Fiano and has been hugely influential in bringing these varieties into the Australian wine zeitgeist.

Today, Mark's son Duncan has taken over the winemaking duties and the experimentation with emerging varieties continues. Nero d'Avola, Negroamaro, Piquepoul have come into the fold.

Coriole never stands still. They are trailblazers that have had a huge impact on the changing face of modern Australian wine.

Critic Reviews

DDS review

"A bright crimson beauty in the glass and even more impressive on the nose. It has a ‘pinot-esque’ quality; forest floor, fresh turned earth,Morello cherry and white pepper. Negroamaro characteristics ensue; orange oil, dark chocolate-dipped dried mandarin, dried rose petal and woodsy herbs. The medium bodied palate is awash with delightful, lively, fresh acid, cranberry, plum and prune and incredible depth for a lighter weight wine. The 2017 Negroamaro is full of rustic character and savoury complexity." - Coriole

Additional Info

From The Producer

Negroamaro is a very distinctive variety in the winery with it’s spiced and ‘Campari’-like aromatics, a favourite aperitif in our household. Due to its low tannin and delicate aromatics profile we age this wine for only 10 months in old oak. We recommend serving chilled in the summer months.

Blend : Negroamaro (100%)
