It’s complex as chardonnay gets, alluring and compelling as a drink.
About The Wine
The Macedon Ranges is home to some of the best terroir in Australia for producing cool-climate Chardonnay.
Cobaw Ridge occupies some of the best Chardonnay land in the region. The combination of old school biodynamic farming and skillful winemaking from Alan & Josh Cooper makes for a devastatingly delicious Chardonnay of a very high celibre.
It's a tightly wound, savoury style of Chardonnay with a huge amount of horsepower under the hood.
It relies on fruit concentrationa and bracing pristine acidity for its architecture rather than oak. It's a gorgeous wine from one of the hidden gem winegrower families of Victoria.
About Cobaw Ridge
Cobaw Ridge was established in 1985 by Alan and Nelly Cooper in the Macedon Ranges.
This estate is the only certified organic and biodynamic producer in the region. Alan firmly believes that great wines are made in the vineyard. The vines come first at Cobaw Ridge. They grow excellent examples of Syrah, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and Australia's most sought-after example of Lagrein.
Over the years Alan's winemaking approach has become more and more minimalist. With sulphur now the only addition in the winery and Alan using more inert vessels such as Qvevri, the Cobaw Ridge Wines have never looked better.
