About the Wine
From the mature, close-planted Strathmore Vineyard ‘French’ block of classic Burgundian Pinot Noir clones, grown on the limestone speckled soils of the Moorabool Valley, comes this vibrant Geelong Pinot Noir.
A cool vintage, low-yielding vines and gentle handling resulted in a wine with a floral and red berry nose, spice and earth flavours balancing the fruit on the palate, and fine tannins coupling with the firm acid for great length
About Byrne
Having made wine under his eponymous Byrne Wines label since 2011 while also working as assistant winemaker at Lethbridge, 2015 saw Alex step out on his own to focus on his myriad of personal winemaking projects.
What started as a focus on single vineyard wines from Ballarat, Alex has now broadened his range, and produces elegant and complex Chardonnay, Pinot, and Shiraz from cool-climate regions across Victoria, which highlight the quality of their origins, and the talents of the winemaker.
