About The Wine
Beechworth's reputation for top-flight Chardonnay is well earned. The region has produced some insanely powerful Chardonnays over the past decade or more.
Willem Kurt's owner/winemaker Daniel Balzer has perhaps reigned in a little of that power with his newest release of Chardonnay but left none wanting in flavour. This is a great modern example of the direction of the region. It has length and intensity without leaning too heavily on oak. It maintains freshness with deliciousness above all. With a strong 94 points from Campbell Mattinson, this is one for lovers of the variety.
Truly, one of the best value wines we've seen from the region.
About Willem Kurt
Willem Kurt wines are sourced from various sites around the Alpine Valleys and Beechworth in North East Victoria.
The wines are put together by experienced winemaker Daniel Balzer. The name ‘Willem Kurt’ comes from combining the middle names of his two sons. It’s very much a boutique, family-owned-and-run affair.
The focus is on Shiraz, Chardonnay and high-quality Vermentino. Pound for pound some of the best vino you will find in the Beechworth region.
These are bold and delicious wines which pack a punch.
