About The Wine
Gorgeous and unique little offering from Neil Hawkins and family in Gippsland 2016. T
heir organic farm offers up beautiful fruit and it's Neil's job to work out where that fruit goes - to a single varietal wine, or as in this case, to a delicious meeting of varieties. Syrah and Pinot Noir have a long history of getting along in Australia, The Wine Farm expression is its own thing but it works so well.
Classy, pure and insanely glugable. Mike Bennie summed it up beautifully with this line from his 93 point review, "One of those pitch perfect lighter weight reds with structure and deliciousness on its side. Excellent."
About The Wine Farm
The Wine Farm is a small organically farmed vineyard at the Southern-most tip of the Gippsland region.
This is one of the coolest sites on mainland Australia. The man behind the project, Neil Hawkins, along with his wife Anna, have brought this picturesque patch of land back to life since taking it over.
There are eight varieties planted over seven acres which are producing wonderful, expressive wines. Neil makes the wines with minimal intervention.
The health of the farm is their number one priority, As Neil says, "Under no circumstances whatsoever will we use herbicides, systemic fungicides or insecticides in our vines/on our property. The most important life on The Wine Farm (family and pets aside) is what crawls beneath the soils."
