About The Wine

Andrew Marks is The Wanderer.

He is making some of the Yarra Valley's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, working with fruit from some low yielding vineyards in the Yarra Valley, his wines are amassing a big reputation. His latest release of Upper Yarra Pinot Noir has an amazing amount of refinement given the warmer 2016 vintage in the Yarra Valley.

Minimal intervention is his winemaking philosophy and it pays obvious dividends in this release. For top class Yarra Pinot Noir at the moment, this is right at the front of the pack

About The Wanderer

The Wanderer is the side label of Yarra Valley vigneron, Andrew Marks, heir apparent to the well-loved Gembrook Hill wine label in the Upper Yarra.

The Wanderer is Andrew's chance to experiment with fruit outside of the family vineyard.

He produces high-calibre Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah, in an elegant and refined style.

These are precise and finely detailed wines made with sensitivity and care that have quickly amassed a cult-like following. Only small amounts of each wine are made..

Critic Reviews

The Wine Front

"This is a fluid pinot noir with ripe/sweet berries flowing seductively through the palate, extra buoyancy coming via sweet/roasted spice notes aplenty. There’s a varietal sourness/smokiness, a tangerine character and a subtle infusion of dry/fragrant herbs, though it’s remarkable how fluent and satiny this wine presents. It’s a charming wine." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
