About The Wine

Benchmark wines, each and every one from the talented Dan Standish. He is crafting some of the region's most compelling examples of Shiraz at the moment.

The The Standish Shiraz is made from fruit farmed by the the Laycock family in the Greenock sub-region of the Barossa Valley. Dan has worked closely with this great vineyard since 2005, with previous releases of  Standish 'Andelmonde’ and ‘Borne Bollene’ coming from this site.

He brings the 2017 wine to fruition in impeccable fashion. The sheer quality and depth of this Shiraz is nothing short of remarkable.

Limited allocations available. Barossa fans, this is a cellar essential.

About Standish Wine Co.

Dan Standish is one of the most outstanding Barossa producers in the game today.

A sixth-generation Barossan, Dan started the Standish Wine Co. in 1999. Over the intervening years, his wines have amassed unanimous acclaim. His offerings now rank amongst the rarest and most sort after Barossa wines for collectors in the know.

After learning his trade at Torbreck, under his eponymous label, Dan has pursued a quest to showcase some of the Barossa region's finest and most ancient sites.

Stylish, seductive and devastatingly powerful, the Standish wines are Barossa wines with unmistakable X-Factor.

From The Producer

The 2017 year saw a rarely lush growing season for our old vines, with decent winter-spring rainfall and a long, sustainined ripening period. We’re seeing the vibrancy to match in these wines.

These bright, luscious Shiraz’s each reveal refined, multi-layers of graceful tannin; fleshy and distinguished. While unmistakably Barossan, this vintage carries an elegance akin to a Northern Rhone offering - an atypical shift resulting from a more modest variation of our renowned ‘blow-dry’ summer heat.

Barrel de-classification took a leading role for these creations, bottling less than one third of production, retaining only the crème de la crème for the final cuvees. The role that soil, site and aspect play is distinctly evident in each of these single site wines as they show their most unique tones to date.

DDS review

Dark, deep, impenetrable colour here. Imposing and luxurious with deep satsuma plum, black and blue berries, a lift of lavender and the fine cedary feel of top-class French oak. It coasts like a Rolls-Royce, smooth and effortless across the palate. It's swanky and stylish, destined for great things in years to come. Beautiful wine. Bravo. - Different Drop Wine Team

"Greenock Shiraz, and a very good one at that.Inky black thing this is, almost impenetrable. Grilled meat, lavender, blueberry and blackberry, dark spices and vanilla. Full bodied, thick with sheets of dense, compact tannin, almost a slaty feel here, well-bedded acidity, and for all the thunder, there’s something of a petrichor perfume going on in the mouth, along with scrub herbs. The finish rolls on and on, and is slick with tannin, and fresh ‘minerally’ acidity.  Enriched by glorious tannin, fragrance and spice of Shiraz, and regional earthiness: it’s a fantastic expression of the Barossa." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
