About The Wine

A benchmark Barossa Shiraz here from Dan Stanish. The Schubert Theorem Shiraz comes from an east-facing vineyard in Maranaga.

The fruit of these ancient Barossa Valley vines was brought to bottle with the help of concrete eggs and judicious French oak seasoning. This is a wine that showcases the mighty power of the Barossa Valley with flawless control.

This is a monumental wine. A brooding, luscious, velvety Shiraz that floods every crevice in the mouth.

Small allocations available. Serious collectors of South Australia's finest red wines should not hesitate.

About Standish Wine Co.

Dan Standish is one of the most outstanding Barossa producers in the game today.

A sixth-generation Barossan, Dan started the Standish Wine Co. in 1999. Over the intervening years, his wines have amassed unanimous acclaim. His offerings now rank amongst the rarest and most sort after Barossa wines for collectors in the know.

After learning his trade at Torbreck, under his eponymous label, Dan has pursued a quest to showcase some of the Barossa region's finest and most ancient sites.

Stylish, seductive and devastatingly powerful, the Standish wines are Barossa wines with unmistakable X-Factor.

From The Producer

The 2017 year saw a rarely lush growing season for our old vines, with decent winter-spring rainfall and a long, sustainined ripening period. We’re seeing the vibrancy to match in these wines.

These bright, luscious Shiraz’s each reveal refined, multi-layers of graceful tannin; fleshy and distinguished. While unmistakably Barossan, this vintage carries an elegance akin to a Northern Rhone offering - an atypical shift resulting from a more modest variation of our renowned ‘blow-dry’ summer heat.

Barrel de-classification took a leading role for these creations, bottling less than one third of production, retaining only the crème de la crème for the final cuvees. The role that soil, site and aspect play is distinctly evident in each of these single site wines as they show their most unique tones to date.

"From Roennfeldt Road, Marananga, one of the more famous addresses in the Barossa Valley. It’s as black as a night with no moon in the Scottish Highlands, and I know this, because one night after quite a few whiskies I took it upon myself to go for a walk one cold winter’s night, and it took me quite some time to find my way back to the lodge… Anyway, I digress. Bold perfume of lavender and vanilla, sweet damp earth, blackberry and blueberry pie with toasted crust, liquorice and dark chocolate, perhaps some spice on that pie crust, too.  Full bodied, but fresh and vibrant, with blackberry flavour and acidity, a deep well of ripe open-weave grainy tannin, depth and intensity, rippling tannin thunders on the earthy and toasty finish. It’s dark and charismatic. It’s long. There’s some polish and finesse, yet it still feels wild and unfettered. It does the Barossa Valley proud. Laugh and think (and drink), this is Australia." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine.
