About

About The Wine

The Sons of Eden philosophy is focused around what the Barossa does best, and this Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre blend is a brilliant example of what the label is all about.

Not only that, it's hands down one of the best value GSMs in the country!

It's named after the Kennedy family who owned the 50+ year old, low yielding Grenache vineyard that makes up the majority of this wine. The Shiraz and Mourvedre fruit has similar old vine pedigree giving the wine great concentration, with the restrained use of older French oak really allowing the gorgeous fruit to do the talking.

The 2016 vintage was perfect for the SOE style. Loads of fruit weight without heaviness and the quintessential lushness that you want from the Barossa.  An absolute steal.

About Sons of Eden

Sons of Eden offer some of the best value to be found in the Barossa Valley today.

With the combination of Simon Cowham's viticultural experience and Corey Ryan's winemaking nous, they are one of the most formidable teams in the region.

The boys have successfully grown their brand with a suite of full-flavoured but well-proportioned Barossa and Eden Valley wines - predominantly reds - that have gained impressive critical acclaim.

With a suite of exceptional old-vine resources at their disposal, their wines are simultaneously approachable and cellar-worthy.

These are red-blooded Barossa Valley and Eden Valley wines which over-deliver year in, year out.

From The Producer

The KENNEDY is a classic blend of old vine Barossa Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre varieties.

Named as a tribute to the legendary Barossa Vigneron's who pioneered the planting of the old treasured vineyards, which the Barossa enjoys today.

The Grenache fruit is the 'soul' of this blend and is from an exceptionally low yielding 50+ year-old Light Pass vineyard. Originally planted by the Kennedy Family, with ownership eventually being passed onto the charismatic Leo 'Joe' KENNEDY who nurtured the vines for many years, selling his prized fruit to local winemakers.

DDS review

Ripe cherry, some almond and plum, lick of cocoa and some peppery spice. Classic Kennedy smoothness and sweep of fine tannins. It's deeply fruited, but with a lift and energy. Such great drinking for the Barossa Valley lover. Great stuff. - Different Drop Wine Team

The Wine Front

"Mixed berries, red liquorice, sage and spice. Medium-bodied, supple with silty tannin, a little toast and sage in with smooth red and black berries, clean line of acidity, and a long fresh finish. Spot on." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
