About The Wine

Fluus (meaning 'Flow') is a delicious, unfettered blend of red Rhone varieties from the Barossa Valley, compiled and composited by the skilled hands of Abel Gibson.

Abel describes it as, "lighter weight, a great introduction to the style of red wine we make". There is wonderful balance in the glass here, a fresh and juicy version of a Barossa Valley red wine with a delicious underlying earthy element which anchors the wine and sets it apart from some of other the 'jubey' modern red wines of the region.

Fluus is excellent value for money and a perfect way to get acquainted with this gem of a Barossa producer.

About Ruggabellus

Ruggabellus - meaning 'rugged beauty' - is one of the breakaway producers of the much written about 'New Barossa' movement.

A deep connection to the land of the Barossa Valley underpins Abel Gibson's winery. Raised amongst the vines of the Barossa, the cellars of Penfolds and Rockford, with the guidance of local wine legends such as Charlie Melton and his father Rob Gibson, Abel has carved a unique path for his brand.

Ruggabellus focuses on sensitive blends of old vine Syrah, Mataro, Grenache and Cinsault from great old vineyards with freshness and vitality always the key. Oak is never new. Additions are minimal.

The 'whites' are some of the country's finest examples of skin contact 'amber' wines. The variations on Riesling, Muscat and Semillon that are entirely world class. These are rare and truly authentic Australian wines.

The Wine Front

"Fluus, the flow. Get with it. Here’s a regular winner from the clever, clever hands of Abe Gibson and his vineyard sources. Produced in a large, old oak vat this year (well, matured in it). Syrah dominant for the first time (38%), with cinsault (21%), grenache (21%) and mataro (20%). Bistro-friendly fare of the highest order; or just for sloshing around with abandon at home. Hearty perfume of plum, lavender, malt, faint game meat and faint espresso, with a savoury, brambly undertone. Sounds over the top in description, but you keep seeking and you shall find. Medium weight in palate, or at least medium in ripeness of flavour, touches of green herb/spice, sheets of firmly succulent yet fine tannin. Juicy, bright finish. Stellar drinking, overdelivering for price with structure and complexity, though some might find it a darker version of Fluus, though the wine has lost none of the drinkability." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Additional Info

From The Producer

We are keen to understand the uniquely Australian character of our wines. We use no new oak. For our reds we are attracted to vineyards that allow us to pick earlier in an effort to preserve vitality, crunch and intrigue.

Our wines range from 10% to 100% whole bunch and all wine movements are done using gravity. We nearly always harvest on ‘fruit’ days. All ferments are unseeded and allowed to progress naturally. All wines are bottled under screw cap. We sincerely hope they become a valuable contribution to the evolving nature of Australian wine.

Blend : Syrah (38%), Cinsault (21%), Grenache (21%), Mataro (20%)
ABV : 13.4%
Closure : Screw cap
Drink Until : 2025
