About The Wine

This might just be the most sought-after release this year from winemaking maestro, Michael Hall.

Made from a tiny block on Mt Torrens, Michael managed to squeeze a minuscule  amount of wine out of this site, but he loves the wine, so it's worth it.

It's elegant, spicy and replete in red fruit. A rare gem and a sensational crack at Shiraz/Syrah from this region.

About Michael Hall

It is Michael Hall's precise and methodical approach to winemaking which has made him stand out in the crowd of Barossa Valley winemakers.

A jewellery valuator in a previous life, his wines ooze class and attention to detail. They focus on small, unique vineyards that produce high-quality fruit. No shortcuts in the winery and an unwavering commitment to quality.

These are classically styled and refined wines designed to speak articulately of the Barossa and the surrounds.

Michael's wines are top shelf.

Critic Reviews

96Points
Halliday Wine Companion

"Sourced from a late ripening site at 480m, the result is a velour of blue and black fruits purring across a carapace of pepper grind acidity and a sheen of perfectly integrated oak. Fully destemmed. And it shows. Smooth. Luxurious. The emphasis is on a detailed textural patina with violet scents reverberating from fore to aft. This is a cool climate expression with the gloss of somewhere warmer."  - Ned Goodwin (Halliday Wine Companion)

The Wine Front

"Michael Hall is one of the best producers in the country. This Syrah/Shiraz is from the Fife Road Vineyard at Mount Torrens. All destemmed, wild fermented in open vats, 14 months in French (20% new), unfined and unfiltered. 1930 bottles produced. Terrific wine. Peppery as all get up. Meat, cherries, plums and peppercorns. It has power, it has momentum of flavour, it has excellent structure and it purrs through the finish. It feels cool, it feels warm, it feels excellent." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
