About The Wine
Nuit St George is hallowed turf for lovers of expressive Pinot Noirs with both finesse and concentration.
For this cuvee Mounir travels to the northern part of the vineyards between Vosne Romanée and Nuits Saint Georges for this small Premier Cru. It's a wine of great depth and structure, a stone's throw from Vosne Romanée where wines fetch considerably higher price tags.
In the context of this portion of the Côte de Nuits, this offers excellent quality for the price.
Stylistically, you get a comparable level of intensity and minerality as Vosne-Romanée Malconsorts 1er Cru. It's a wine with great ageing potential that will evolve gracefully for the next two decades or more.
About Lucien Le Moine
Lucien Le Moine is a partnership between husband and wife team of Mounir and Rotem Saouma.
Theirs has been one of the most talked about negociant operations on the modern Cote D'Or. They actively source parcels from the finest Premier and Grand Cru vineyards up and down Burgundy.
Winemaking wise, they have been touted as one of the benchmark 'modernist producers', however, Mounir believes that his long, slow elevages and minimal use of sulphur harken back to the Burgundy production of an era gone by.
On their operation, Jancis Robinson wrote, "An extraordinary micro negociant in Beaune. Very serious quality." These are powerful, complex wines of imposing quality and stature.
