Trust the brothers Koerner to put an interesting spin on an already interesting variety.

This is a Vermentino with some attitude.

Here the boys use a canny combination of skin contact, ageing in a ceramic vessel and old oak to bring extra layers of complexity to a variety often thought of as mono-dimensional. This is smashability writ large.

About Koerner

The Koerner brothers, Damon and Jono, are on a mission to bring the classic wine styles of the Clare Valley into the modern day.

They play with a mix of 'classic' Clare Valley varieties such as Riesling, Cabernet and Malbec and a suite of alternate varieties that show a different side of this iconic Australian wine region. 

With fruit sourced from their own family vineyard and a move toward more contemporary winemaking, utilising terracotta and ceramic for fermenting and making as little additions as possible in the winery, it's easy to see why their star is on the rise.

From The Producer

The Vermentino fruit used to produce this wine was sourced from a slight northern aspect of Gullyview vineyard. The vines are 10 years old and planted on red clay on limestone, ‘Terra Rosa’ soil.

We hand picked the fruit on the 24th of February at around 11.5 baume. In the winery the fruit was 100% de-stemmed, and half pressed straight away, the other half left in the press for 24 hours before pressing. Both parcels where left in tank to settle off large solids overnight. The wine was then racked to a mix of old French oak and ceramic eggs for fermentation. Fermentation with indigenous yeast lasted around three weeks, the wine was then left to settle on full lees for six months.

At this point all vessels where blended to tank where it sat on fine lees for a further three months. The wine was then racked, a small sulphur addition made and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

We ship primarily with Australia Post. Their fast, easy and reliable delivery is completely FREE for any orders of $150 or more, or just $9 for any orders of $149 or less. There is no minimum order quantity and you can mix and match as much as you like.

The vast majority of orders are dispatched from our Sydney warehouse on the same or next business day. Estimated delivery time frames can be viewed here. Please include Authority to Leave instructions in the ‘SPECIAL REQUESTS’ box during checkout if you may not be available to sign for your delivery and would like it left at your front door.
