About The Wine
The Jamsheed Garden Gully Syrah comes from one of the oldest Shiraz vineyards in Victoria.
The Garden Gully Vineyard was planted in the 1890s with cuttings from the Best's Old Clone Shiraz on the same famous Concongella soils that Best's occupies.
The 2016 vintage was made with 100% whole bunches, natural winemaking bringing to bottle a beautiful wine here from Gary Mills. This is a more medium-bodied and tempered style of Garden Gully Syrah, but one that is ripped in chiseled tannin.
A different expression of the region but one that is simply delicious to drink.
Gary Mills' Jamsheed wines are amongst the most exciting in the country: thrilling, authentic wines packed with personality. Campbell Mattinson labelled him “a leading producer”, Jamie Goode called him “the new face of Australian wine” and Matthew Jukes went as far as to call the wines of Jamsheed “a revelation”.
With a specific focus on the regional differences in Victorian Syrah for his Jamsheed range, Gary has always been ahead of the curve in creating minimal intervention wines that naturally convey the characteristics of their respective vineyards.
Wild, electric and a little left of centre, Jamsheed is one of the Victoria’s most compelling producers.
