About The Wine
On the shortlist of Australia's best Aglianico, Angelo sits somewhere near the top.
The 2016 is the finest release of Angelo to date from Craig and Brian. The vines planted by the Kalleske family in Koonunga at the behest of the Izway lads are now hitting their straps. This is a powerhouse version of the variety, one good for a couple of decades in the cellar without breaking a sweat.
It combines the smooth, swanky fruit of the Barossa Valley with the ripped, rugged tannin the variety shows in its home of Basilicata, in central-southern Italy.
If you love Italian varieties with an Australian accent, this is going to knock your socks off.
The Izway wines are a partnership between Brian Conway and Craig Isbel.
These two Barossa Valley diehards have been making outstanding Barossa red wines from great vineyards since 2003. They honour their families in the naming of each wine, characters like Bruce, Harold and Don populating the range.
These are quintessential Barossa Valley wines - deep, dark and brooding, powerful and polished. With one nod towards tradition and one towards the future, Barossa Valley lovers should be all over these wines.
