An exciting release.
Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
About The Wine
If you love your cool climate Shiraz, then we have a winner for you here. Under the guidance of winemaking wizard Steve Flamsteed and with access to many of the Yarra Valley's finest vineyards, the Giant Steps juggernaut is becoming an unstoppable force.
The suite of new releases from Flamsteed and Co. are brilliant. The fruit for this Syrah is hand-picked from the Tarraford, Sexton and Lonestar Creek vineyards. As with everything Flamsteed puts his name to the treatment in the winery is very gentle and unobtrusive, with wild yeasts, open fermenters and older large format oak use.
The resulting wine is a beauty. Pure and precise, detailed and complex, perfectly pitched. In his 95 point review Campbell Mattinson called it "Velvety and sinewy at once.", and it's hard to argue. If cool climate,
Rhone-inspired Syrah is your thing then there is joy to be had here.
