About The Wine
Although the Northern tip of Burgundy is most often thought of as Pinot Noir country Marc Soyard shows us that the area is more than capable of producing exciting Chardonnay.
This comes from Domaine de la Cras' 3 hectare block. The vines are a mature 33 years old and have only ever been tended to organically. The resulting wine sings with brightness, it's quite different to Bourgogne Blanc from further South with lively acid and zip, some barrel use gives additional depth.
A real treat that highlights the joyous diversity of the Bourgogne classification.
About Domaine de la Cras
Domaine de la Cras is a 160 hectare property located just outside of the city of Dijon.
In 2013 the city of Dijon held a duel to find a young and energised winemaker who would become the custodian of the city's newly acquired vineyard. Ok, it wasn't a duel, it was a tender, but nonetheless Marc Soyard was victorious and, drawn to Marc's organic philosophies and impeccable C.V, the gatekeepers soon handed over the keys to this stunning 8ha property.
Marc's winemaking is in no small part inspired by his time at Domaine Bizot, born in Jura he is a natural guy at heart, working with organics and biodynamics in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the winery.
Structured and transparent with the depth of fruit that great viticulture promotes, Domaine de la Cras offer excellent value.
