About The Wine

Here's a great example of a modern Shiraz from McLaren Vale.

The fruit comes from three different vineyards across McLaren Vale that are up to 55 years old. Yes, it's ripe with all that big, beautiful fruit you want from this part of the world, but it has freshness and an energy at the same time.

A touch of Mataro adds a little extra somethin' somethin', dark and moody with a little x-factor. This got a solid nod from Jane Faulkner with 95 points in the Halliday Wine Companion.

A solid no-brainer for those who love Shiraz from this part of the world.

About Dodgy Bros

What started as a small garage winemaking project for viticulturalist Peter Bolte, has grown into a full-time fun-filled winemaking gig.

With fruit secured from top growers with a handshake, Peter, along with Canadian winemaker Wes Pearson and 'grower extraordinaire' Peter Sommerville are now making tasty treats in a wide range of styles from excellent McLaren Vale sites.

The Dodgy Bros wines don't take themselves too seriously. These are adventurous and energetic wines with plenty of personality.

Critic Reviews

95Points
Halliday Wine Companion

"The fruit comes off three McLaren Vale sites, one planted in '55, with 12% mataro in the mix; gentle handling with the winemaking including aging in French and American oak hogshead (7% new). Bottled unfined and unfiltered, the result a finely modulated wine. It's not a big red. It's full of red fruit though, buoyant and juicy with the right amount of spice, licorice with well-knitted tannins providing a savoury twist on the finish." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

The Wine Front

"Dark berries, coconut and chocolate, perhaps a little like a Bounty Bar, but in the best possible way. It’s medium bodied, supple and subtly saline, but also has an earthiness and bouncy bass that brings this baby home. Tannin is fine and well meshed, and the finish features an array of red and black fruits, with a sprinkling of dried herb perfume. Gee, this is very bloody good to drink." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
