About The Wine
Young German-born Julia Weirich is a well-travelled woman in the world of wine.
After covering vintages in Burgundy at Le Grappin, Bass Phillip in Australia, and Yealands in New Zealand, Julia is now making a small amount of Barossa Valley wine, alongside the skilled and experience team of Simon Cowham and Corey Ryan at Sons of Eden.
Her goal is to craft, "Fine, modern and silken with typical Barossa varietal characters.", and her first releases are off to a great start.
Her 2016 vintage of 'The Whaler' Shiraz is right on the money. It's loaded with delicious ripe fruit, dripping in regional character and has easy drinking appeal.
James Halliday awarded this release 96 points, and at under $25 this goes straight into the no-brainer territory.
