You can't spend more time, effort and and energy in making a great wine than this, and the result is a stunning, ageworthy, powerful, delicate wine from the heart of Tuscany.
The famous Case Basse estate can be found in the Brunello subzone of Tavernelle, to the southwest of Montalcino. Up until 2006 this wine was actually labelled Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, after which founder Gianfranco Soldera decided to leave the rules of the Consorzio behind, and to proudly use Toscana Sangiovese IGT on the label.
After four years maturation in Slavonian oak, the 2015 release, from an all-time great vintage, is a magical drinking experience.

From the Producer
The history of the Soldera Case Basse® winery began in the early 1970s. Gianfranco and Graziella Soldera nurtured a project to produce a high-quality natural wine and knew they could only achieve this if they found a terroir with certain essential features.
When they discovered Case Basse, they knew they had found what they were looking for: an enchanting estate which lay uncultivated and abandoned at the time. Instinctively realising the potential of the place and bowled over by the beauty of the landscape, Gianfranco and Graziella decided to set up their winery here and planted the first vines between 1972 and 1973, carefully choosing the plots most suitable for growing Sangiovese.
Blend : It is thanks to the passion, dedication and care they devoted to this land that an extremely high-quality natural wine appreciated all over the world has been produced at Case Basse since the mid-1970s.

Bright, spicy, sweet red cherry and strawberry, savoury dried herb, aniseed, suede, so complex, and in many ways, more like a great Burgundy than Tuscan wine, though the DNA of region and grape is well expressed. Medium-bodied, light and effortless, such fine acidity – like biting into a fresh strawberry – then spiced strawberry, gently smudgy tannin, cool red fruit almond and dusting of tannin on a superb long finish. Tasted from cask. A year described as 'very easy' by Gianfanco Soldera. 24,000 bottles expected from their 10 ha of vines, 'classic' quantity and quality. Pale garnet with leaf-mould arias and striking freshness. This glorious wine is so healthily pure and long, it's like the most luxurious mouthwash. I remark that I feel I could almost enjoy this tonight but he assures me it needs another four years in cask. Drink 2022-2044. - Jancis Robinson

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
