Dave Gartelmann grows the gapes in an un-certified biodynamic fashion and I just LOVE this block.
About The Wine
Sam Scott goes to a small biodynamically-farmed block in the Adelaide Hills to find the fruit the right kind of fruit for his Syrah.
This is treated very gently through the whole process. One out of the four fermenting bins were kept as whole bunches through the ferment before spending a few months on skins, then sent to old oak for maturation.
The guy knows how to get a great wine into bottle with little intervention.
As James Halliday said in his 95 point review, "This is a world apart from Barossa Valley Shiraz..." but it's a delicious world, none the less.
About Scott Wines
Sam Scott has a clear vision for his Scott and La Prova labels - Italian inspired wines done with an Australian sensibility.
Utilising his retail, winemaking and viticultural experience, he has crafted a range of interesting, charming wines from select vineyards through Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Langhorne Creek.
They are vibrant and fruit-forward but with a savoury twist and great varietal character. Value-for-money wise, the range is up there with the best in the country.
Sam is an excellent guy and a supremely talented winemaker, as James Halliday noted, “Scott is a star in the making.”
