About the Wine

This blend may seem from the outside a little unconventional, but once you try it, it all makes sense.

The 2015 La Prova Rosso is a wine made as your classic all-rounder. Here the four varieties all sing in perfect Italian harmony, a quartet with a single cause. It's made for deep drinking rather than deep thinking - Gary Walsh summed it up well when he called it, "A bit of complexity and drinking appeal rolled into an interesting and affordable wine."

This is perfect for those exploring the tidal wave of Italian variety wines hitting Australian shelves.

Critic Reviews

90Points

"A bit of complexity and drinking appeal rolled into an interesting and affordable wine. That’s the message. Dark cherry, tar, sweet dark spices, some dried rose florals. Medium bodied, supple, silky and savoury, with good fruit weight and a chamois-like tannin finish closing a little salty. Good glass of wine here." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Additional Info

From the Producer

Three small parcels of fruit, idyllically matched to their vineyard, fermented separately and blended prior to bottling have combined to give up a succulent and delicious wine.

The varieties intertwine well with each other, finding synergy rather than individuality, but looking contemplatively you can see the blue fruits and structure of Lagrein, the fragrance and savoury grip of Sangiovese, rounded out by the soft and juicy, crowd pleasing Nero d’Avola with the Primitivo bringing a dash of opulence to the table.

Blend : Sangiovese (42%), Nero d’Avola (39%), Lagrein (13%), Primitivo (8%)
ABV : 13.5%
Closure : Screw Cap
Drink Until : 2019
Bottle Size : 750ml
