Tannin rumbles through the wine, and indeed, you’d have to say Ferrous by name, Ferrous by nature here.
About The Wine
The Ferrous is the wilder and more exotic version of the Kooyong Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs.
A 'bunchier' style, ripped with tannin and imprssive drive, Ferrous is a more muscular and brooding expression of Pinot Noir from the Mornington Peninsula.
With 96 points from Ned Goodwin MW and 95 points from Gary Walsh, this is a benchmark example of the variety and a great example of site expression view through the lens of Pinot Noir.
Kooyong is one of the Mornington Peninsula's most iconic wineries.
As with most wineries in the region, their focus is on premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their 'entry level' wines, the Clonale Chardonnay and Massale Pinot Noir offer very good value for money and a great snapshot of regional style.
The real core of the range is their outstanding Single Vineyard expressions of their pet varieties. These are benchmark wines crafted with extreme care and attention to detail.
Kooyong are a regional flagbearer and have done much to lift the profile of the region as one of Australia's premier grape growing regions.
