About The Wine
The Denton vineyard is unusual in the Yarra Valley. The hulking granite boulders just under the surface of the vineyard are unique for the region.
Luke Lambert believes the Denton View Hill vineyard has the potential to make one of the country's best Nebbiolos. The combination of the aspect of the vineyard, the lean granitic soils and the long hang time in the Yarra Valley all adding up to huge potential. The fruit from the site is split 50/50 between Luke Lambert's own label and the Denton View Hill label.
The major difference being Luke's use of very large format oak for his, as opposed to the 29-year-old 500L puncheons used for Denton. It's a wine for the Nebbiolo lovers.
Mostly classically styled but with a hint of new world influence.
About Denton View Hill
Denton View Hill was founded by John Denton, one of Australia’s most celebrated architects.
This is a unique site in the Yarra Valley littered with huge granite boulders making it particularly suited to growing exceptional Nebbiolo in particular.
The wines are currently made by the skilled hands of Luke Lambert, one of the Yarra Valley's finest younger generation winemakers.
The wines are powerful and bold in the context of Yarra Valley wine. A great winemaker and a great site working in total lockstep yielding excellent results.
