About The Wine
Of the suite of CRFT Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs, the Budenberg is the most structural.
This Piccadilly vineyard is littered with pieces of ironstone, blue stone and some quartz. These soils yield tight, dense punches with amazing power and concentration. As with all of the CRFT wines, this Pinot is made with delicate hands in the winery, with the emphasis being on capturing the essence of this unique vineyard.
It is also unfined, unfiltered and vegan-friendly. The 2015 release is a wine of what you might call 'quiet intensity'.
It is always the first of these wines to sell out and with only 138 dozen produced this year, you'll have to be quick if you want the chance to try this lovely wine.
The CRFT story is an exciting, and ambitious one.
Husband and wife team of Frewin Ries and Candice Helbig both gained extensive winemaking experience for large companies like Cloudy Bay (Frewin) and Hardys (Helbig), before launching into CRFT with the 2013 vintage.
They only produce tiny volumes of all their wines, and their philosophy is all about minimally interfered with single vineyard wines that truly express the different sub-regions of the Adelaide Hills.
They have purchased a vineyard in the Adelaide Hills and continue to work with trusted local growers to produce their high quality, highly characterful wines.
