What a great and interesting drink. Grouse, not gross.
About the Wine
A modern take on a classic Australian blend here from young Owen Latta. This meeting of Cabernet and Shiraz is made without any additions except a bare minimum sulphur addition at bottling.
Natural winemaking done with precision and attention to detail can make for some incredibly expressive wine and Owen is one of the best in the country at the moment at finding that sweet spot.
A brilliant option for those who want a glugable classic Aussie red made with a new wave vibe.
About Latta / Eastern Peake
Is anyone working as hard as Owen Latta to put Ballarat in the mix of Australia's foremost wine regions? At only 15 years old he completed his first vintage at Eastern Peake alongside his father and has since taken on the full-time running of the business.
Owen is the man primarily responsible for both the Eastern Peake and Latta wines, the former of which being dedicated to premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Eastern Peake vineyard, and the latter being Owen's personal project all about innovation from a range of excellent central Victorian vineyards.
The wines are all gently brought to life with very astute yet hands-off winemaking, and Owen's low and zero sulphur wines are some of the best examples in the country. These are thrilling, absolutely unique Victorian wines, and quite simply Own Latta is one of Australia's finest young winemakers.
