About the Wine
Valpolicella sees no better, more powerful expression than from the magic hands of Quintarelli, perhaps Veneto's greatest red wine producer.
Always released with tremendous bottle age, it's a blend of local varieties Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. About half the fruit is air-dried to increase concentration, and in classic ripasso style there is second fermentation on the lees of the famous Amarone.
Astonishingly for humble Valpol, the wine is then aged in Slavonian oak for seven years...
So smooth and complex and capable of ageing for many more years.
About Giuseppe Quintarelli
Giuseppe Quintarelli was the 'Maestro del Veneto', establishing a legendary estate over a 60-year period. He is known as the father of Amarone.
Since his passing, the legacy has been honoured and continued first by Giuseppe’s daughter Fiorenza, and son-in-law Giampaolo, and now by his grandsons Francesco and Lorenzo.
The name itself stands for so many things, but more than anything, a way of doing things the right way.
It’s about more than just wine though. From, beautiful handwritten labels, to the best quality corks, to the exquisite wine in the bottles, the Quintarelli name is the ultimate indication of an artisanal, handmade, and uncompromising wine of the highest quality.
