About

About The Wine

A benchmark wine, against which all other Amarones are judged, Quintarelli only produce theirs in exceptional vintages - it is one of the world's greatest wines.

This cult collectors wine is primarily a blend of mainly Corvina with Rondinella and traces of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, Croatina, and Sangiovese. It’s warm and harmonious, with a balanced tannin structure.

So many layers and flavours to this wine, Quintarelli’s Amarone demands to be contemplated rather than just consumed. Always rich, opulent, sensuous and extraordinary, every vintage of this wine is truly a thing of beauty.

About Giuseppe Quintarelli

Giuseppe Quintarelli was the “Maestro del Veneto”, establishing a legendary estate over a 60-year period, and is known as the father of Amarone.

Since his passing, the legacy has been honoured and continued first by Giuseppe’s daughter Fiorenza, and son-in-law Giampaolo, and now by his grandsons Francesco and Lorenzo.

The name itself stands for so many things, but more than anything, a way of doing things the right way.

It’s about more than just wine though. From, beautiful handwritten labels, to the best quality corks, to the exquisite wine in the bottles, the Quintarelli name is the ultimate indication of an artisanal, handmade, and uncompromising wine of the highest quality.

From The Producer

Amarone is only produced in exceptional years, with a careful selection of grapes during harvest. After harvest, grapes sit in wooden boxes or on rush mats, careful attention is paid to the positioning of the grapes so the appassimento can occur naturally.

Noble rot starts to appear in November and develops mostly in January, the grapes are then pressed at the end of January and after 20 days of maceration, alcoholic fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts lasting 45 days.

Wine is then racked and ages in Slavonian oak barrels for seven years, with alcoholic fermentation continues during this aging period creating a dry wine.
