About The Wine
The trueman Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the finest examples of varietal Cabernet in McLaren Vale.
Hand picked fruit sourced from an elevated vineyard on the Hickinbotham site, this is a, “ modern Cabernet that encapsulates all the toil and antiquity of Clarendon.”
With 95+ points from Gary Walsh who said, “ the quality … here is exceptional. Length also. Significant wine.”, this is one of the best Cabernets released anywhere in Australia from the exceptional 2012 vintage.
Something for an occasion to be sure, and a must have for any serious collector of this noble variety.
The Hickinbotham vineyard is somewhat of a legend amongst the Australian winemaking community.
Planted in 1971 in the Clarendon region, fruit from this important site has contributed to some of the most iconic wines in Australia's history, including Penfolds Grange, Eileen Hardy and Clarendon Hills.
Recently, the vineyard has undergone somewhat of a renaissance after being purchased by American wine juggernaut, the Jackson family, and being placed into the winemaking care of Yangarra winemaker Peter Fraser and respected American winemaker, Chris Carpenter.
These are elite premium wines that are made limited quantities and are built to mature gracefully. The ultimate addition to any serious collector's cellar.
