- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
If you're looking for that perfect easy-drinking, all occasions bubbly to have around the house over the festive season - look no further. 'Lois' is a gorgeous Blanc de Blanc Sparkling from one of our absolute favourite Australian wineries The Lane Vineyard. The Lane are forging a reputation as one of the Adelaide Hills' premier producers, and are all about quality and authenticity with every single berry grown on site at their own vineyard. Their philosophy is to craft premium single vineyard wines that combine the finesse of Europe, the flavour of Australia and the unique characteristics of their vineyard. And if you're ever in the Adelaide Hills do not miss the chance to visit their stunning cellar door and restaurant - it is without doubt one of the most picturesque and memorable winery visits in the country. So back to the wine! Lois was introduced to the range only a few years back and with great success. As I mentioned it's a 'blanc de blanc' style made entirely from Chardonnay (albeit three different clones), meaning that it is designed to be a _fresh, crisp and fruit-driven_ style. The Lane are home to one the Hills' finest Chardonnay vineyards and the quality shines through here. It really is a deliciously easy-drinking bubbly, is beautifully packaged and absurd value. We can't recommend it any more.
What it Tastes Like
The nose is full of aromas of fresh citrus, apples and subtle toasty notes. The palate is lively and zesty with more apples, lemons, limes and hints of minerality that The Lane's vineyard is renowned for.
95 points. "Light toasty, citrus nose with delightful yeasty characters. Clean zesty palate with a crisp finish." - Australian Wine Showcase 92 points. "In an ultra-suave bottle, this inaugural release has made quite a splash. Not surprising from one of the Adelaide Hills finest Chardonnay vineyards. Crunchy apples and grapefruit zest are caressed by a creamy bead and a long, clean finish." - Wine Business Magazine 91 points. "Lois Lane is quite flattering in her unashamedly fresh and pale, fruit-focused guise of primary pear, apple and lemon. A simple, well-made aperitif quaffer." - Tyson Stelzer (Wine 100) "A wicked and witty sparkling. For $20! Oh my stars, I'm going to pop my cork! Creamy, biscuit and so, so pleasing. Love the label. This is a classy wine, beautifully made. It's unusual to get a sparkling wine of this quality with this packaging for this price." - Adelaide Hills Magazine

The Adelaide Hills may be the most energised wine region in the country. The sense of exploration and creativity amongst the tribe of talented young winemakers in this region is unparralelled. The Hills has become crucible of Australian wine talent, offering an array of varieties, from classics such as Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, to new varieties like Nebbiolo and Grüner Veltliner for the younger generation to play with. Every vintage brings new colour and complexity to the rich wine, food and produce culture of this cool climate region.
Australian Chardonnay is a seductive variety that comes in all shapes and sizes. From the toasty and voluptuous to the lean, flinty and minerally, there is a Chardonnay out there to suit everyone. Australia’s developing prowess with this variety has been marked by the international community with wine writers such as Jancis Robinson marvelling at the outstanding value to be had right across the country. The prestige brands of Margaret River offer wines of deep flavour and power, often crafting fuller-figured Chardonnay of outstanding quality. The cooler-climate wines from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and the like are more focused and linear, building complexity around a backbone of pristine acidity. Whatever your preference, there is an Australian Chardonnay to enchant all comers.
