About The Pack

Here's an easy way to have a trip around Italy from the comfort of your own home.

While there is plenty of super-premium wines in Italy, there are a swag of bargains to be had too.

Check out these six easy drinking table wines that hugely over deliver in the bang for your buck stakes!

2017 Maretti Langhe Rosso

Produced by the winemaker behind the famed wines of Mirafiore and Fontanafredda, this is a delicious little Langhe blend that gives you the personality of Piedmonte at just a snip of a price.

This is a blend of Nebbiolo and Barbaera - the region's two hero red varieties - with a mix of traditional and modern winemaking techniques used during production.

It's an unpretentious and totally smashable entry point into the wines of the region, both earthy and brightly fruited.

If you need some quaffing table reds and you love the Piedmontese vibe, buying just doesn't get much better than this.

2017 Fontanafredda Ebbio Langhe Nebbiolo

If you're interested in what all the fuss is about with Nebbiolo grown in the Piedmont region of Italy, this is a great way to dip your toe in the water.

This is made by Danilo Droco - winemaker behind Mirafiore - and comes from selected vineyards across the Langhe appellation.

Made with very minimal influence from oak, Danilo preserves all the natural charms of the Nebbiolo grape. It's rosy in perfume, brightly red fruited and carries the signature defined tannins the variety is known for with an easy approachability.

Value for money wise, you can't really go wrong here. It's an easy-drinking option that won't bust the bank account.

2018 Bibi Graetz Casamatta Rosso

From a medieval castle, Castello di Vincigliata, acquired by his parents over 60 years ago, winemaker Bibi Graetz crafts his wines on a hillside overlooking the great city of Florence. Beginning initially with only a small, 5-acre vineyard on this hillside in Fiesole, in little under two decades, Bibi has become one of Italy's most ingenious winemakers adding "cult winemaker" in addition to "talented abstract artist" to his dossier.

Since the release of his first wines in 2000 and without any formal training, Bibi Graetz has managed to stir-up the Tuscan wine scene, and with the creation of Testamatta and Colore, has made his name eponymous with great Tuscan wines. With his unique and artisanal winemaking approach, Bibi Graetz’s wines have garnered a loyal following among wine collectors and wine trade.

Sourcing grapes from parcels of old vines around Tuscany give the Bibi reds great depth and soul; while grapes from vines on the Isola del Giglio have provided proof that Tuscany can be known for beautiful white wines as well. This affinity for old vines allows for the concentrated yet elegant wines of Bibi Graetz making this portfolio a collectible from Tuscan producers.

2016 I Veroni Chianti Rufina I Domi

The Fattoria I Veroni was founded in 1895 about 10 km from Florence, in the Chianti Rufina.

Today the company is owned by the Mariani family, which owns about 50 hectares of land, of which 30 are used for olive grove and 20 vineyards.

The vineyards, which are located at an altitude ranging from 100 to 350 meters, at the Church of St. Martin in Quona, were replanted in the 90s, totally cultivated according to the dictates of organic farming. 16 hectares have been planted with selected clones of Sangiovese, 2 acres with international varieties and the remaining hectares with white grapes for the production of the precious Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina.

The winery, located in the ancient historical site of the farm, was restored in 2004 by the current owners. They now produce soft, supple Chiantis that show wonderful fruit purity and offer excellent value for money - especially when you consider that they are farmed organicaly.

2018 Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba

The Dolcetto from Massolino is made from grapes grown exclusively in the Serralunga region of Piedmonte.

This is the wine made for drinking during harvest, where the fresh berried fruits and soft tannins help was down lunch while grapes are being brought into the cellar.

It's a supple wine, not profound in complexity but very high in drinkability.

This is the wine you drink while you wait for you Baroli to mature.
