Description

Peter Dredge, maestro of music and mainlining Tassie Riesling.

From the 2020 vintage he's got Riesling expressions from North, South and East - the East is the most pure and exhilarating of the trio with great acid life shining through, despite the long natural ferments and nine months in oak.

A tight, taut and savoury wine that carries a necessary amount of residual sugar to make life interesting. A beauty.

North, East, South Tasmania Vineyard comparisons are BACK! - in its last iteration, the old classic - Riesling.

Whole clusters are pressed to old oak casks for natural fermentation then left untouched for 9 months. 20% of the casks contained some unpressed whole fruit clusters for the 9 months for added texture.

Exactly like the 2019 North East South Chardonnays in style and production technique but with a little residual sugar. Tasmanian Rieslings are sharp and need the relief. They also need time, hence 9 months on lees and 9 months in bottle before release with almost unlimited ageing potential. Available now and as always, very limited.

94 Points - "East Coast - Single Vineyard. 9 months on lees. This is the most 'classic' of the 2020 Riesling wines. I believe this is Dredgey's fave of the 2020 wines. Well, he'd know. I'm happy to be taught about these taut wines. Kaffir lime and citrus blossom, saline, green apple and lime. It's tight, and juicy in lemon/lime flavour, with a fine powdery and chalky texture, but pure with it, a fine crunch and grip, classic styling with additional umami character, and a 'mineral' finish of good length. A bit of a dark horse. It should age beautifully." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

96 Points - "<span class="cs-reviewBody">The bouquet is more reserved, with suggestions of vanilla and white chocolate, while the floral and citrus nuances are subdued. There's a touch of almond meal as well. The palate is powerful, penetrating and vibrant, with rapier-like acidity and lots of drive. The aftertaste is cleansing and long, the overall impression appetising and calling out for food. A cracking wine with real finesse." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)</span>

94 Points - "This is riesling with real purpose and power. Striking lime, green-apple and sliced young-pear aromas with gentle florals, too. These lead to a palate that holds a long, taut line of tangy lime and apple flavours. Drives long and finishes mouthwatering. " - JamesSuckling.com

Dr. Edge

Peter Dredge is Dr. Edge. He is one of the most intuitive and talented winemakers on the Apple Isle.

With a wealth of experience garnered at wineries such as Bay of Fires, he has revitalised the Meadowbank label and returned it to its place as one of the must-watch vineyards in Tasmania.

Dr. Edge is his passion project where he can take risks and make Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Riesling that truly excites him. His creativity can fly under the Dr. Edge banner and wines that walk a fine line of tension, funk and freshness invariably arise.

Only small batches of wine is produced, all made by hand, and typically they sell out in short order. Playful, pleasurable and remarkably thoughtful, the Dr. Edge creations are riveting things to drink and have rightfully earned cult status among collectors of Tasmania's finest.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
