2018 Mallaluka Pinot Gris / Noir

Hilltops, NSW

Another quirky take on Pinot Gris from Mallaluka (this time blended with Pinot Noir), and the result is both fascinating and delicious.

Drink young and cool.

About The Wine

Here's a varietal match made in heaven, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris getting along like a house on fire by the hands of Sam Leyshon.

This is a red wine destined to be guzzled straight from an Esky or out of the fridge.

There's some juicy fruit character, a touch of wild 'herbiness' from some whole bunch action and soft, feathery tannins that make this super easy to knock back.

Great Summer drinking here. Should be many more like it!

About Mallaluka Wines

Mallaluka is a family affair in the Canberra district of NSW.

These estate-grown wines are made by second generation vigneron Sam Leyshon who has most recently learnt to ply his trade assisting Bryan Martin and Tim Kirk at Clonakilla.

These are modern wines that reflect the changing face of this exciting region. He makes wines with a wild side, they are made with minimal intervention and are insane value for money.

With Sam in the driver's seat, Mallaluka is one of the rising stars of the region, bringing a unique light and shade to the Canberra district.

Critic Reviews

The Wine Front

"Gris from Freeman Vineyard, Hilltops, the noir from Canberra District from a private, family vineyard. Murky garnet colour in the glass. High toned floral notes, green herbs, whiffs of lifted florals, sour cherry. Good start. Amaro zone. Succulent in texture, supple dark and cherry flavours, pepper and herbs, a sheath of chalkiness in tannin. Super fresh feeling, totally a summer style red, good with a chill. Drink young and cool." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
