Real good in its way.
About The Wine
So many young winemakers, when they get a hold of some great old vine fruit, get over excited and throw the kitchen sink at it.
Sven knows better than that. To let this 70-year-old Grenache fruit sing, Sven keeps it simple.
It's hand-picked, whole bunch fermented, housed in old barrels and sent to bottle without fining or filtration.
It's a crisp-edged, rosy style of Grenache with electric fruit and joyful energy in the glass. Awesome drinking here if you like the lighter side of Barossa Grenache.
About Sven Joschke
Sven Joschke took a circuitous route to become a winemaker. Born and raised in the Adelaide Hills but an accountant by trade, Sven felt the calling to follow a life in wine. In a bold move, he packed up his life and headed back to South Australia.
To say he fell on his feet would be an understatement. He was taken under the experienced wings of Peter Schell (Spinifex) & Jason Schwarz (Schwarz Wine Co.), two of the Barossa's finest contemporary winemakers, where he was allowed to find his winemaking legs before starting his own label.
These are wines built for a good time. Some great vineyard resources now make up his small but bouncy range and the future looks bright for Sven.
