About The Wine
Murdoch Hill's Michael Downer is jumping on the Pinot/Syrah bandwagoan and doing it in style.
So many of the modern versions of these blends are built in a jubey, drink-me-now style. This is a little more serious.
The Syrah portion is ripe and powerful, filled with plums, spice and savoury tannins.
The Pinot adds a little levity. A whaft of flowers and sweet red fruits. It's pitched perfectly and he's nailed it first go.
Another fantastic and unique expression of the Adelaide Hills from this powerhouse producer.
About Murdoch Hill
Murdoch Hill is a family-owned winery captained by talented young winemaker Michael Downer.
Downer splits the range in two: his clean-cut, consistently high-quality ‘Estate’ wines are excellent value and perpetually reliable, and his quirky, adventurous ‘Artisan’ wines which offer an alt-styling and different shades of the region.
With the combination of high-quality Adelaide Hills fruit grown on the family estate and the undoubted talent in the winery, this is a Hills producer on the up and up!
