About This Wine
The Frei Körper Kultur (FKK) wines of Bianka & Daniel are all about re-working the idea of tradition. Freikorperkultur is normally written as one word. This is separated on the bottle to three. Frei – be free (be brave to be free), Korper – body (we are all the same kind) and Kultur – culture (cultivate your nature). In essence, natural wine is just pure wine, nothing fancy or clever.
This is a wild blend of Scheurebe, Pinot Blanc, and Huxelrebe, that spend 3 weeks on skins, before being mashed up with some Ortega, and Pinot Gris that’s been whole bunch pressed in there as well. All raised in fibreglass tank, with minimal SO2 added at bottling.
The end result: a one-litre bottle of super fun, juicy party wine. Fresh, funky, and a little bit skinsy, just thirst-quenching to the max.
About Bianka & Daniel Schmitt
Daniel’s family have owned their farm for over 200 years; however, they only began growing grapes and producing wines in the 1950’s, with conversion to organics and then furthermore to certified bio-dynamics between 2000-2012.
Originally from Hungary, Bianka came to the winery in 2012 to work vintage with Daniels’ father Peter.. met Daniel, you know how the story goes.
Now raising their own family, as well as running the winery together, Daniel and Bianka continue to farm their 16ha of vines in Rheinhessen bio-dynamically (one of only 80 Demeter certified wineries in Germany). Their motto Drink in Peace.
Their wines offer a wide array of varieties and styles, with extended skin-contact, and multiple different fermentation and elevage vessels used. Their goal: To create grand wines as naturally as possible that embody the true balance between man and nature.
