About The Wine
The Blauburgunder was Jeremy Schmölzer's winemaking project through the 2018 vintage.
Where their Brunnen Pinot Noir is a more serious, structural style of wine, this is a wine built for drinking young and drinking with gusto.
The fruit comes from two vineyards, the first a cool site in the King Valley where the acidity is bright and the second, the Indigo Vineyard in Beechworth where the fruit has a little more grunt.
It's a divergence in style for the young couple, a more jovial wine meant to be chilled and drilled in short order.
As it's an experiment, there were only 50 dozen made. It's a joyous thing to drink. Try it out, it won't be available for long.
About Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown
Tessa and Jeremy are playing a long-game with their Vignerons Schmolzer & Brown label.
They have invested in a block of land high in the hills behind Beechworth and have planted 10,000 vines on it over the last couple of years with the plan to farm it organically. Tessa has a wealth of experience from time at Sorrenberg and Kooyong, Jeremy is an architect by trade with an eye for detail.
It comes as no surprise that the buzz around this husband and wife team is palpable and the praise is high.
Max Allen called them, “one of a remarkable number of impressive new wine labels to have cropped up in Beechworth over the last five years.”
They are going to be at the forefront of Beechworth wine for many years to come.
