One of our most Rhone like Shiraz’s...
About The Wine
The Shiraz By Farr is a Shiraz made like a Pinot Noir.
This is from vines planted in 1994 as part of Gary Farr's original plantings. In most vintages, a small amount of Viognier is either co-fermented or back blended to enhance fragrance and texture. It's a soft, seductive wine that really turns it on.
The 2017 vintage conditions suited the Farr Shiraz vines very well. Nick Farr believes this to be the family's most 'Rhone-like' Shiraz to date.
Silky, slippery and spicy, this is a wonderful expression of Shiraz from a great Australian vineyard.
About By Farr / Farr Rising
Gary Farr is one of the most iconic winemakers in the country.
He was responsible for taking Bannockburn Vineyards in Geelong to the startling heights it reached as one of the benchmark producers of Burgundian varieties in the country. His own label, By Farr, is considered by many as Australia's leading producer of those same varieties.
The Farr vineyards are based in the Moorabool Valley in Geelong, with a wide array of ancient soils resulting in small yields of incredibly intensely flavoured Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Shiraz and Viognier.
With Gary's son Nick now pulling the winemaking reigns alongside his father, this is a project set to dominate Geelong wine for years to come.
