About The Pack

Finding good value Pinot Noir made by true artisan producers is a difficult thing.

Pinot's delicate nature means it needs to be nursed to bottle. That extra care takes time and money, hence the soaring price of the best examples in the country. This pack proves you can still find top-notch Pinot Noir under $30 in Aus.

These six Pinot Noirs are from some of the top Pinot producers in the country. These are their best value offerings.

A no-brainer pack for the Pinotphiles out there.

2017 Stoney Rise Pinot Noir

Joe Holyman is one of the leading lights of Tasmanian wine.

His Stoney Rise Pinot Noir always massively over-delivers, and this is no exception. With a wealth of experience from across the global wine scene, Joe along with his wife Lou, have become the proprietors of the old Rotherhythe vineyard in northern Tasmania. From a vineyard that needed some serious TLC, they have been producing some top shelf Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for over a decade. This is serious stuff.

The Stoney Rise range, as James Halliday once observed, is all about "focusing on fruit and early drinkability", immediate drinking pleasure is the goal and boy have they nailed it here. It comes from 50% estate-grown fruit and 50% from Joe's growers, and it's a vibrant, refreshing, effortless style of Tasmanian Pinot.

More complexity than you'll almost ever see for under $30 and one of Tasmania's true bargains.

2018 Hughes & Hughes Pinot Noir

As the demand for fruit in Tasmania increases, so too are the prices. The top value Pinot Noirs are becoming rare as hens' teeth, but here's one that you can fill your boots with if you want a stylish Tassie Pinot that won't bust the bank.

This is fruit from across the island fermented in small batches in a bunch of different ways. Some whole bunch, some whole berry, lots of experimenting from winemaker Jonathan Hughes to see what works, then finally a blend of the best parts.

It's a great drink and remarkable value. There just aren't many Pinots at this price from the Apple Isle that will deliver the interest and satisfaction of the Hughes & Hughes.

2018 Arfion Spring Pinot Noir

Dave Macintosh loves his Pinot Noir in all shades and colours. The thirst for a young, vibrant 'nouveau' style drove him to release this, the Spring Pinot Noir.

For insane drinkability in a Pinot Noir, that's loaded with character, this is one of the tastiest of its style getting around.

It does the job Dave wanted - its irresistible from first sip.

A bouncy Pinot Noir brimming with jubilant fruit, this will keep you coming back for more and more and more.

Knock a slight chill into it and guzzle with abandon.

2018 Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir

The Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is the entry point to Phil Sexton & Steve Flamsteed's highly acclaimed wine range.

Flamsteed is considered one of the modern masters of Yarra winemaking and with Giant Steps a solo operation now, you can see him at the height of his powers.

This is a superb entry point into the world of premium Yarra Pinot Noir. It's made with 40% whole bunches and the meticulous attention to detail for which Flamsteed has become renowned.

If you want to get familiar with this stellar Yarra Valley producer, this is the best place to start.

2017 Even Keel Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir

The Even Keel Pinot Noir is the entry level Pinot Noir release from talented Mornington Peninsula vigneron, Sam Coverdale.

Sam makes some outstanding single vineyard Pinot Noirs from his Mornington sites.

The Even Keel sees the sites blended into a soft, slippery, approachable Pinot Noir with loads of fruit and a tickle of spice.

A sumptuous and seductive look at Pinot from the Peninsula.

It's top value from this premium wine region.

2017 Garagiste Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir

Barney Flanders loves Pinot Noir, and his 2017 release of the value-packed Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir is another home run.

Made from a blend of fruit from Barney's outstanding single vineyards, with the best fruit from the Teurong and Balnarring Single Vineyard wines making their way into the blend this year. This represents the essence of Mornington Peninsular Pinot Noir.

No whole bunches here and the emphasis is definitely on ripe Pinot fruit, showcasing the impeccable vineyard management and winemaking of this Mornington guru.

It's unfined and unfiltered, with plenty of savoury complexity to balance the finish.

Value for money wise, this is an Australian Pinot Noir star.
