The Giant Steps wines have become some of the Yarra Valley's most sought-after releases over the last few years.
A near peerless investigation into the influence of site on variety by winemaker Steve Flamsteed has seen these wines rise to the top of the Pinot Noir pile from the region.
The 2019 releases may be his best work to date. To really see the nuance in these wines, a side-by-side tasting is the best way to go. This pack is the easiest way to do it.
There is not much to go around, if you love Pinot Noir, do not hesitate over these releases.
2019 Giant Steps Primavera Vineyard Pinot Noir
Primavera is an outlier in the Giant Steps Single Vineyard series.
This vineyard sits on red clay in the Upper Yarra, oddly a site that excels in warmer vintages. Red soils, undulating hills, the dedicated Lou Primavera tending it daily.
The wine released from Flamsteed in 2019 is incredibly floral and seductive - perhaps the softest and most sensual of the Pinot Noirs this year.
Stunning drinking now or for the cellar.Read more about 2019 Giant Steps Primavera Vineyard Pinot Noir
2019 Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Pinot Noir
The Applejack Pinot Noir is from the cooler climes of Gladysdale in the Yarra Valley.
This is one of the jewels in the Giant Steps crown. A wine that shows incredible power and structure from day one, Applejack is now seen as one of the benchmark Pinot Noirs of the region.
With a healthy amount of whole bunches and a splash of new oak, the wine has plenty of oomph - it really is the complete package. The 2019 Giant Steps wines are all of very high quality. Without a doubt some of the finest releases for the region from the 2019 season. Flamsteed says he believes this to be the best release of Applejack Pinot Noir to date.
Applejack is often the fastest to sell out of the Giant Steps range. If you love Pinot Noir, do not hesitate over this release.Read more about 2019 Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Pinot Noir
