2018 Tonic Wines Grenache
The same two vineyard sources combine in the 2018 release of Tonic Grenache.
The fruit is picked early precisely to maintain the beguiling floral aromatics that present in Clare Valley Grenache, in a drier vintage like 2018, this is even more important.
This is man-handled as little as possible on its way to bottle. A small amount of whole bunch in the ferment, only a gentle racking before bottling with a dash of sulphur. What you get is the very essence of Clare Grenache; brightly fruited, impossibly drinkable and more-ish to the last glass.
If you've never tried the tantalising wines styles from Tonic, or never had a lighter style of Grenache that has blown your socks off, there is no better way you could spend $30.Read more about 2018 Tonic Wines Grenache
2018 S.C. Pannell Basso Garnacha
The Basso is a lighter, fresher, more 'smashable' version of Grenache from Steve Pannell.
It's Steve's minimal-intervention wine. It's bottled with a minimal amount of sulphur, unfined and unfiltered.
Steve's wines are all about melding with our Australian culture and this is the perfect fit for BBQs and beach cricket.
It's lighter in bodied, dappled wth the lacy tannins and spice of early-picked Grenache - It's just a great anytime/anywhere red from one of the country's finest winemakers.Read more about 2018 S.C. Pannell Basso Garnacha
2018 Aphelion The Confluence Grenache
Crafting McLaren Vale Grenache is the main game for Rob Mack and Louise Rhodes at Aphelion. It's a game they are very skilled at. Every egg a bird, as they say.
Sourced predominantly from gnarly, 80-year-old bush vines rooted in the sandy soils of Blewitt Springs, this fresh and vital version of Grenache is set decidedly to a "Drink-Me-Now" tempo. It's the composite blend of the three Aphelion Grenaches, combining both the 100% whole berry and 100% whole bunch wines into one seamless wine.
There's tension and beauty in this release, which is to say, it's McLaren Vale Grenache at its most irresistible. The 2018 gave Rob fruit with high toned aromatics and silky texture. It's right on the money as a modern example of McLaren Vale Grenache.Read more about 2018 Aphelion The Confluence Grenache
