About The Pack

In the same way Australia has become synonymous with Shiraz, Argentina has become linked inextricably with Malbec.

The home of the variety may be Bordeaux, however today, the mountains of Mendoza and the surrounds produce some of the most imperious and impressive examples of the variety to be found anywhere on the planet.

The extreme altitude, the dry conditions, the particular pockets of varying soil composition just so happen to be the perfect recipe for crafting these luxurious, powerful reds. This pack gives you six great yet varied examples at a great price.

It's the best value way to get you snuggling up with a Malbec this winter!

2018 Finca La Florencia Malbec

Big red lovers, you're on to a winner here.

This is an opulent, ultra-smooth Malbec from a vineyard almost 1000m above sea level in the iconic region of Mendoza.

An Italian family from Piedmonte is behind the wine. Having immigrated to the region in the 19th century, the Cassones have established a modern premium winery in the Drummond area in the south-west of the region.

Combining this great old vine fruit with modern, polished winemaking techniques allows current owner Eduardo Cassone to produce powerful yet approachable wines that do great justice to the region.

2018 Barbarians Esperando Malbec

Matías Michelini is one of the renegades of the Argentinian wine scene.

In a region dominated by conservative winemaking, Matías is working to push boundaries and promote more experimental, creative wines from the region.

This is Mendoza Malbec, but not as you know it.

Picked from a bioynamic vineyard at 1350m above sea level, this wine is fermented in concrete and aged in terracotta, allowing the pure, sinewy character of the fruit to shine.

When you think of Argentinian Malbec, you think thick, oaky, decadent wines, this wild child is more athletic and energetic and it's all the more wonderful for it!

2018 Laura Catena La Posta Paulucci Malbec

Dr. Laura Catena's grandfather Domingo was the man many attribute to being the father of Mendoza wine as we know it today.

Laura has taken over her family's business and today is one of the loudest spokespeople on the quality of Malbec from Argentina, her passion, knowledge and vision for the future are revered and respected the world over.

La Posta is a label designed to celebrate the great local growers that form the backbone of the Argentinian wine industry. Each cuvee comes with the name of the family who grew it. Too often it is the winemakers who take the limelight, Laura has made it her mission to make sure these passionate growers get the credit they deserve.

This wine was grown by Angel Paulucci on a beautiful vineyard in Ugarteche. It's basically the perfect everyday Argentine Malbec - full bodied and opulent but delivered with restraint. A delicious wine and great value given the price, the love and the care gone into making it.

2018 Matias Riccitelli Hey Malbec!

Matias Riccitelli is a madman in Mendoza.

Young and full of energy, Matias is crafting a range of wines that are challenging many of the preconceptions of the Mendoza region.

His wines are made with a gentle hand and show a more raw and unpolished side of the region. That is to say, his wines feel like they were grown, not made. In a sea of over-ripe, over-oaked Mendoza Malbec, they offer a refreshing change of pace.

The Hey Malbec! is his wine meant for early consumption. It's an excellent example of fresh-faced Malbec that is near impossible to put down.

2018 Ernesto Catena Padrillos Malbec

Ernesto Catena, born and bred in Mendoza and a fourth generation winemaker, seeks to highlight the best grape varieties of Valle de Uco and put them up in lights.

He sees himself more an artist than a winemaker, channeling the influences of art, culture and the unique Mendoza altitude and climate into each bottle he creates. Known as the "Wine Poet", Ernesto is one of the leading producers of this remote and breathtaking Argentinian region.

This is the perfect gateway into the heady world of Ernesto's Malbecs.

It's a fresher look at the variety, all red fruits, dried meats and smooth, silky tannins. It's fantastic buying for the bucks.

2017 Bodega Colome Estate Malbec

Bodega Colome is the oldest working winery in Argentina.

The vineyards were established in 1831 by the Spanish Governor of Salta, it was brought into the modern day by art collector/business man Donald Hess.

Perched at a mind-bending 2300m above sea level, this cold, mountainous climate ripens incredible opulent Malbec thanks to the long hours of sunlight during the harvest season.

Drinking this wine is like floating through a velvet fog. It's plush, smooth and silky to drink. An excellent value full-bodied red from one of Argentina's most respected labels.

Good selection of Argentinian wines

An interesting selection of very drinkable Argentinian Malbec. Reminded me strongly of a 14 day walking tour we did in Patagonia where we drank nothing but Argie Malbec. Highly recommend for a fun box of interesting wines.
