2018 Brave New Wine Glitter Us Petillant Naturel
Yoko and Andries at Brave New Wine have a particular feel for making a Pet-Nat.
This is their new version, the first 'white' Pet-Nat in their line up.
It's made from mainly Vermentino with a few bits and pieces of Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc thrown in the brew.
It's light, crisp and as refreshing as a cool swim on a hot day. The perfect wine to kick off the Christmas Day festivities!Read more about 2018 Brave New Wine Glitter Us Petillant Naturel
2018 Ravensworth Riesling
Those that have ever tasted the exquisite wines from the Clonakilla stable should know that most of them have been touched by the hands of Ravensworth owner/winemaker/butcher/purveyor of smoked meats, Bryan Martin.
The Ravensworth project is a chance for him to captain his own ship. The wines are some of the best value in the country.
This is a scintillating expression of Riesling. Nothing fancy (apart from a small component made in ceramic egg). Just amazing fruit made with a gentle and precise touch. It was no surprise to us that we loved this, as we have loved everything we have tried from Bryan recently.
Think lime and green apple with a hint of honey - it's the perfect wine to match with all your Christmas seafood!Read more about 2018 Ravensworth Riesling
2018 Unico Zelo Jade & Jasper Fiano
The Unico Zelo owner/winemaking dynamic duo of Brendan and Laura Carter are hugely passionate about Fiano, and they wholeheartedly believe in this variety's suitability to Australia's climate and culture.
So do we, it's a winner.
This comes from the ancient sandy limestone soils on the iconic Ricca Terra Farms vineyard in the Riverland region of South Australia. It's a wonderfully textural wine, a little more oomph in the palate than some of the more insipid 'dry whites' on the market and an easy thing to knock back anytime of day.
All up it's delicious to drink, perfectly built for enjoying with food and great value for money.Read more about 2018 Unico Zelo Jade & Jasper Fiano
2018 Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown Pret-a-Rosé
VS&B continue to kick goals with each new release. Here comes their Rosé, right on point.
This blend of Pinot Noir and Shiraz is a must-try for lovers of dry, savoury Rose. It was made naturally with no additions except a little sulphur. Hand picked, basket pressed straight into, as Tessa puts it, "oooooooold barriques".
Rosé continues to grow in popularity and with so many easy-to-love examples like this out there at the moment, it's not hard to see why.
And who doesn't love a Rosé by the pool on a hot day in December?!Read more about 2018 Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown Pret-a-Rosé
2018 Two Tonne Tasmania Ziggurat Pinot Noir
The Ziggurat Pinot Noir from young Ricky Evans is a delicious, highly-gluggable version of Pinot Noir built for early drinking.
This wine is made from two different vineyards that Ricky manages. The fruit from these sites is more red fruited and juicy than his more moody and savoury TMV or Dog & Wolf Pinot Noirs. This fruit is primed for this Cru-Beaujolais-inspired style of wine that Ricky loves to make and drink.
This is about trying to find different expressions of this hallowed variety. Ziggurat is made to be a delicious early drinker, with Gamay-esque mouthfeel and tantalisingly vibrant flavours.
It's downright delicious.Read more about 2018 Two Tonne Tasmania Ziggurat Pinot Noir
2017 Adelina Shiraz Mataro
The Adelina Shiraz Mataro showcases the exquisite old vine Clare Valley fruit that Jen Gardner and Col McBryde have at their disposal.
Over half of the fruit in the 2017 release is sourced from vineyards 100+ years old, these are some of the Clare Valley's most precious and respected vineyards.
The wine itself is treated with the typical Adelina care: wild ferments, gentle handling, and this year a portion fermented in concrete. This vintage is a little lighter on its feet than the heroic 2016, a more restrained and elegant representation of old-vine Clare Valley fruit.
As a complete package, this is remarkable value and one of the best pound-for-pound reds in the Clare Valley.Read more about 2017 Adelina Shiraz Mataro
