An amazing wine - profound, seemingly with immense potential. Great stuff.

About The Wine
OH is the OG Mount Pleasant vineyard, planted in 1880 by an Englishman of great foresight, Charles King. The Old Hill site continues to produce exceptional quality Shiraz in very low quantities.
An awesome release of extreme complexity, the aromas flitting around like a butterfly from brown spices to earthy tones, to dark plum and chocolate covered cherries.
The palate is polished and pure rather than rustic. It's not Barossa glossy, more Hunter high-toned, with great balance and a straight down the fairway finish.
What a wine.
About Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant is one of the most iconic names in Australian wine history, and a beacon for lovers of cellarworthy Hunter Valley Semillon and Shiraz.
The winery was established in 1921 by the legendary Maurice O’Shea, regarded as a true Australian pioneer of table wine. After studying oenology in France he persuaded his mother to buy land in the Hunter, including vineyards planted by Englishman Charles King back in 1880 - and named his new estate Mount Pleasant.
The Griffith-based McWilliam family got involved with Mount Pleasant, and took full ownership in 1941, a partnership which lasted until 2020.
Now under invigorating new ownership, chief winemaker Adrian Sparks (just their fifth head winemaker ever) leads the way into the second century of Mount Pleasant.
