2023 Two Tonne Tasmania EST Pinot Noir

Ricky Evans is a star on the rise. His boutique label Two Tonne Tasmania is one of the a names to watch on the Apple Isle.

The EST Pinot Noir comes from a small, mature vineyard on the North Eastern coastline of Tasmania. Views of the sea can be taken in from the vineyard, a marginal site with a unique climate for producing finely detailed Pinot Noir.

The small inclusion of whole bunch lending structure and architecture to this wonderfully pure feeling wine. It's a treat to drink and only made in limited quantities. Ricky's wines are never available for long so if you want to see what he's up to, buy now or forever hold your peace.

2022 Giant Steps Yarra Valley LDR

The LDR (Light Dry Red) is a lip-smacking blend of Pinot Noir and Syrah, with fruit from Phils Sexton's home block on the Valley floor and the notable Tarraford vineyard.

It's slinky, seductive, and incredibly easy to drink.

If you love this uniquely Australian blend, with all the history and nostalgia that Pinot/Shiraz conjure up for Australian wine lovers, this is a beautiful modern rendition which should absolutely be on your hit list.

"A juicy yet focused and delicious mouthful with satiny tannins. The bargain red wine in the portfolio."
- 95pts, Gary Walsh Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

2022 Nick Spencer P.A.R. Hilltops Sangiovese

The P.A.R. project explores a range of varieties that Nick Spencer believes will define the next generation of Australian wine.

Nick loves Sangiovese. The lightness, the savouriness, its versatility. When produced in a pure, light-weight style such as this, it's a beautifully supple and yet serious thing to drink.

A high-altitude vineyard in the Hilltops region supplies the fruit. No oak, just a sandstone 'anfora' acts as the ageing vessel so you get the essence of the variety mainline without obfuscation. It's a perfect all-rounder for anytime, anywhere.

"A very ‘mineral’ character to it, and so compelling and good to drink. Unreal."
- 94pts, Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

2022 Somos Biodynamic Aglianico

The Somos lads are on a roll and they've really stepped things up a gear here.

Somos' standard Aglianico offering has arguably been the most impressive wine in the range over the last couple of years - the guys clearly have an understanding of this late-ripening Italian variety. This is one of the more serious Aglianicos around.

It comes from Paxton's biodynamically famed vineyard, and despite being hung out to ripen and develop flavour for a longer time than other varieties, still retains remarkable acidity and freshness.

It's so perfumed, so juicy and just so interesting. If you've enjoyed Somos' Aglianico in the past, this is another level up. Bravo!

"Lovely stuff, with enough heft to make winter consumption righteous, or a chill on the flipside good."
- 93pts, Mike Bennie(The Wine Front)

2022 The Story Super G Grenache Syrah Mourvedre

Pepper and spice and everything nice.. Not lyrics to a song (though they could be), rather a fairly apt description of this Victorian GSM, from the Rory who created the Story.

There is not a whole lot of Mourvedre in the Grampians, however Rory managed to get his hands on a really nice small parcel of fruit, that really rounds out this wine. While the Shiraz component brings the fruit and mid-palate heft here, it’s the interplay between the Grenache and Mourvedre that really makes this wine sing. Super pretty nose, a smoky spice element, that aforementioned mid-palate fruit, all lead to a fresh finish, enhanced by that cool-climate natural acidity.

This is a really nice alternative to the GSM wines we see from SA, a bit lighter in frame, fresher in feel, yet still with full-throttle flavour and aromatics.

"It's not heavy but it's so wild with spice and so generally captivating that it's hard to put it down. This is a cracker of a wine."
- Campbell Mattinson (Halliday Wine Companion)

2022 Torzi Matthews Mystic Park Shiraz

Crafted with fruits from two vineyards, one in the Angaston sub-region of the Barossa and one in the Mt McKenzie sub-region, this Shiraz is deliciously aromatic, with flavours of blackberry and spice, with a gratifying finish.

Lighter in fruit profile and palate weight than its Schist Rock brother, this is nonetheless a deeply enjoyable bottle of Shiraz, particularly at the price point.

Perfect to share around as a table wine, enjoy over pizza and a movie, or to settle in with on your next binge-watch sesh.

"It’s kind of like Beaujolais x Barossa Shiraz in a way, well, that kind of feel. Very good too."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Great bunch of reds. All smashable, but still with a bit of structure. The Poppelvej Pinot Meunier definitely a stand out.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
