- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
The Woods Crampton boys are breathing new life into the Barossa Valley wine scene. With eye-catching, stylish packaging, killer reviews and massive over delivery in the value stakes, these wines are red hot at the moment. Their 'White label' Eden Valley Riesling is their 'easy drinking', approachable style of Riesling. Sourced from three different vineyards that sit a little lower in altitude than the big brother 'High Eden' Riesling, this wine kicks a lot of goals. Gary Walsh summed it up pretty darn well by calling it "a reliable performer over its short history." and giving the 2016 vintage 92 points. If you are looking for a no-brainer, highly drinkable Riesling for the warmer months, then look no further.
What it Tastes Like
"Talc and vanilla perfume, juicy lemon and lime, maybe some aniseed. Light bodied, pretty and approachable, with a nice amount of crunch to the acidity, but not so much it makes you wince. Gentle chalky texture, and a tweak of lime rind bitterness on a gin and tonic infused finish of solid length. No worries mate." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Vineyard: Sourced from three higher altitude and well established Eden Valley vineyards just below 600 metres (the cut-off for High Eden regionality) Winemaking: The fruit was hand harvested early in the morning into small bins before rapid transportation to the winery. Following a chill overnight at seven degrees overnight the fruit was whole bunch pressed. The fermentation was very cool, at around twelve degrees, and allowed to ferment to bone dry. The absence of the influence of solids is crucial to the purity of the style. 2016 Vintage: Another outstanding vintage for the Eden Valley in a long string of successes. Excellent, balanced and consistent conditions – warm but not too warm, dry but not too dry, crucially cool Autumn nights – have led to intensely flavoured and brilliantly balanced fruit with excellent freshness. Tasting Note: Pale, almost clear, with vivid green highlights. The nose is very fresh and restrained, tending towards citrus with subtle floral notes. The palate is elegant and pure with a core of delicate citrus flavours and beautiful mineral acidity. Approachable and well balanced, with the fruit flavours not swamped by acidity, this is an excellent each way bet – enjoy now or cellar for the medium term.

About the Producer
Woods Crampton is a young and energetic brand quickly making a big name for themselves out of the Barossa. Essentially a two man operation, their range is a mix of traditional Barossa and some obscure Mediterranean varieties. “Hands off” wines at a great price.
Eden Valley is the cooler more elegant brother of the brawny Barossa. Renowned for slick Shiraz, floral and lifted Riesling and even some stonkingly good Cabernet, the wines of this area provide a great counterpoint to the usual out and out power that South Australian wine has become known for.
Riesling is the king of white grapes. With unparalleled versatility, it rightfully carries the ‘Noble’ name tag. We make extraordinary Riesling in Australia, from far and wide. From the classic searing, razor-sharp styles in the Clare and Eden Valleys to the fragrant and enchanting wines of the Great Southern, Australian Riesling is a chameleon that can take on many forms. Sweet, steely, lean or textured, the world of Riesling is a thing of wonder that should be explored by all true lovers of wine.
