A departure in style of sparkling here for Steve Lubiana. Known for his excellent Methode Traditionelle sparklings from his stunning Tasmanian estate, here Steve takes on Petillant-Naturel with great success. It's a Frankestein blend (as so many of these wines are) of Pinot Noir, Malbec, Gewurztraminer and Riesling from across the Derwent and Huon Valley. He's nailed the style, no doubt about it. It tickles just the right spot. It's fun and frisky and down right glugable, perhaps with a tad more complexity than other straight up-and-down, single varietal versions out there. A rare treat, this is scarcely available outside of cellar door. Only available for a limited time.
What it Tastes Like
Sweet strawberry, cranberry, spiced plums and raspberry coolie. It's tart and trim and terrific drinking. Fine fizz through the mouth, it almost crackles along the palate. Juicy and insanely refreshing. This is exactly what this wine style should be. Unashamedly drinkable from beginning to end.

About the Producer
Steve Lubiana is a pioneer of biodynamic farming in Tasmania. His gorgeous estate was the first to adopt the principals of biodynamics in 2008. Since then the quality of his premium range has sored. His wines are immaculate: Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sparklings all packed with flavour intensity and perfectly balanced.
No variety captures the hearts and minds of the wine lover quite like Pinot Noir. It’s the unicorn of many a winemaker. Notoriously fickle to grow, this delicate red variety can deliver a kaleidoscope of flavours and aromas, from the bright and floral to the moody and mysterious and everything in between. The cooler regions of Australia are where Pinot Noir is most at home. Look to Tasmania and Victoria for the best examples, with some quality wines beginning to show from the Great Southern and from the cooler parts of NSW. Falling in love with Pinot Noir can be a life long affair, beware the charms of this most enchanting of grapes.
