About

Sam Connew is an excellent winemaker and her rising Tasmanian label, Stargazer, is definitely one to watch. 'Tupelo' is her Alsatian-inspired blend of Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewürztraminer. This is a very well-constructed version of this classic aromatic blend, with good acidity and a touch of grip to offset the natural fruit sweetness of these expressive varieties. It's delicious, interesting and good value, and as Campbell Mattinson said in his 91 point review, "It’s frisky and it’s floral, it fills the mouth with flavour and it bursts through the finish." Sam's wines are only made in small quantities so get in quick!

What it Tastes Like

_91 points "Traminer is the last variety listed and yet it creates the main impression. Rose petal and lychee aromatics burst from the glass and drive straight on in to the palate. Honeysuckle. Apple blossoms. It’s frisky and it’s floral, it fills the mouth with flavour and it bursts through the finish. It needs food and the right food, it goes without saying, but it’s a good wine." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
