Marschall is a straight Shiraz sourced from the sub-regions of Ebenezer and Tanunda where David Marschall (the namesake of this wine) planted his vineyards in the time when the Barossa was still finding its feet.
There is no denying it, these guys know how to handle Barossa fruit, and the Marschall is a very slick example of their winemaking nous and prowess in full swing.
In terms of top value Shiraz from this part of the world, this wine has a great track record and the 2016 looks every bit as good as its predecessors.

What It Tastes Like
Luscious, unctuous blackberry and black pepper and some boysenberry. This is Barossa through and through. Some sweet oak in support. Big, liquid chocolate and some spice. So much wine crammed into the bottle. Not quite a block buster but not far off it. If you like Barossa Shiraz, get on this.

Intensity of berries here, kind of like frozen berries – liquified, pepper and dark chocolate, suede leather to smell, and also in the tannin department: it’s the kind of wine you can almost stroke with your tongue. Rich and dense, kind of saline with something of an oyster sauce savoury, but lots of that ripe blackberry and blueberry, layered with spice on a long fat finish. Pretty much nails it.”

The MARSCHALL is a Shiraz made in a classic Barossan Style. Named as a tribute to the legendary Barossa Vignerons who pioneered the planting of the old treasured vineyards, which the Barossa enjoys today. David Marschall was a man of many talents and in conjunction with growing exceptional fruit was a revered martial artist, actor and demolition expert. His legacy lives on through his vineyards within the Tanunda and Ebenezer districts which make up the backbone of this wine.

Sons of Eden is another of the new breed of Barossa labels turning the region on its head, and a partnership between a winemaker (Corey Ryan) and viticulturist (Simon Cowham) who both “learnt and refined their trades in the vineyards and cellars of Eden Valley”.
