- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Now in its 13th vintage, this wine has firmly ensconced itself as one of Australia’s best value Sangioveses, the 2016 is an absolute ripper!
Bryan Martin speaks very highly of this 2016 vintage. Where 2015 was the year of the Shiraz in the region, 2016 is where the Italian varieties are really shinning.
Bryan’s Sangiovese has always had that nice balance between Sangiovese’s natural savoury varietal character and sheer drinkability, but the 2016 shows a deeper level of concentration, or as Bryan puts it “more weight and complexity is shown in aroma and texture.”
And the value! Awesome, authentic Sangiovese from one of Canberra’s most exciting producers.
What It Tastes Like
“Bright cherry fruit, sweet spice, sarsaparilla, touch of rose hip, whiff of smoke, floral notes. Sloshes jovially around in the palate, light to medium weight, bright in red fruits, fringed with a puff of talc-like tannins, finishes with a lick of mouthwatering, cranberry juice and well meshed orangey acidity. Delicious!” - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

TASTING NOTES From the hectic and much varied 2016 vintage, our sangiovese proves the point that if you live in interesting times, you will be a much more interesting person yourself. Deeper in colour, more weight and complexity is shown in aroma and texture. Brooding sour cherry laced with juniper and and spice. A lovely weighted wine
FOOD Anything with tomatoes in it will work a treat. Sangiovese goes head to head with high acid food like battlebots. So pizza and pasta along with more complex braised veal and game dishes will defs go well with here.

About the Producer
Bryan Martin is a winemaker at the height of his powers. Setting aside the exceptional work he is doing behind the scenes at regional flagbearer, Clonakilla, his Ravensworth wines have become some of the Canberra region’s hottest releases. Bryan’s winemaking style is equal parts science and artistic flair. He’s an adventurous spirit trapped in the body of a technical virtuoso. A concert pianist jamming to free jazz. It’s a killer combination. His range is full of alternative varieties and whacky blends, with texture and balance the key in everything. Truly unique wines from a region on the up and up and some of Canberra’s most sort after wines.
Canberra. A mountain of potential. A sleeping giant of Australian wine. The ability of this region to produce world class wines in only a relatively short history is almost second to none in the whole country. We have some absolute geniuses to thank for developing this region. People have taken notice. Canberra wine is some serious gear. With the ability to produce everything from perfumed and tightly wound Syrah, to razor sharp Riesling and a bunch of emerging varieties in the ground excelling, Canberra will be one of the ‘must watch’ wine producing regions in Australia for many years to come.
